NOVA is seeking an Senior Information Assurance Security Engineer. The associated duties may include, but are not limited to, the following:



Designs, develops, implements, and integrates information assurance architecture, system, or system component for use within data center, network and enclave environments. Utilizes experience, judgment, and Information Assurance (IA) capabilities to defend the entirety of the customer network and its connecting entities from cyber threats to include developing integrated and interoperable net-centric IA architectural solutions.


  • Experience with DISA STIG and DIACAP processes
  • Demonstrate ability to create risk mitigation strategies in a fast paced enterprise class environment
  • Participates in information systems risk assessments and designs security countermeasures to mitigate identified risks.
  • Ensures that the architecture and design of DoD information systems (IS) are functional and secure.
  • As necessary, designs and develops IA or IA enabled products, interface specifications, and approaches to secure the environment.
  • Supports system or network designs that encompass multiple data center or networks to include those with differing data protection/classification requirements.
  • Identifies security risks, threats and vulnerabilities of networks, systems, applications and new technology initiatives. Provides technical support in the development, testing and operation of firewalls, intrusion detection systems, enterprise anti-virus and software deployment tools.
  • Conducts complex security architecture analysis to evaluate and mitigate issues.
  • Develops policies and procedures for securing the system infrastructure and applications.
  • Develops complex technical and programmatic assessments, evaluates engineering and integration initiatives and provides complex technical support to assess security policies, standards and guidelines. Develops, implements, enforces and communicates security policies and/or plans for data, software applications, hardware and telecommunications.
  • Performs highly complex product evaluations, recommends and implements products/services for network security. Validates and tests complex security architecture and design solutions to produce detailed engineering specifications with recommended vendor technologies.
  • Identifies and oversees the installation, modification or replacement of hardware or software components and any configuration change(s) that affects security.
  • Provides complex technical oversight and enforcement of security directives, orders, standards, plans and procedures at server sites. Develops manuals and ensures system support personnel receive/maintain security awareness and training.
  • Assesses the impact on the business unit/customer caused by theft, destruction, alteration or denial of access to information and reports to senior management.
  • Provides leadership and work guidance to less experienced personnel. Provide technical and project leadership and project management.
  • Identify opportunities for improving service delivery methods and procedures; identify resource needs; review with appropriate management staff to implement improvements.
  • Plan and review work activities and projects; monitor work flow; review and evaluate work products, methods and procedures; meet with staff to identify and resolve problems.
  • Assist customer in technical presentations before outside customer meetings as necessary.
  • Develop/lead development of documentation as necessary, e.g., Test Plans, Test Reports, Review Board Documents, CONOPS, Review Board processes.
  • Attend and participate in professional group meetings; stay abreast of new trends and innovations in the field of security engineering.






  • Experience securing Windows OS, Active Directory, MS Exchange, and MS Outlook.
  • Experience with F5, Cisco & Riverbed network components.


Clearance Required

Requires a Top Secret security clearance when performance starts.

Education Requirements

Minimum Education / Certifications / Training

Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience and training, with 8+ years of IA/Security Engineering experience.  Security Plus certification required. CISSP certification or Associate preferred.
