The individual will provide SLM Support for the Air Force Institute of Technology (AFIT) software portfolio, at Wright Patterson Air Force Base, Ohio.

The individual will develop, manage, and sustain inventory of all current and newly purchased software over the past five years to Air Force Institute of Technology, AFIT/SC organizations. This will include obtaining receipts and determining licenses purchased, throughout AFIT’s diverse schools. The SLM will coordinate with the network operators to obtain the list of all software currently installed on the network. Using both resources, the software purchased and the software installed on the network, the SLM will determine what software is installed on the network and not currently licensed by AFIT. The SLM will provide all software inventory data to the Base SLM. The contractor will receive and document software licensing information using BMC Footprints database software and report inventoried licenses to the Base SLM.

Skills and Responsibilities:

  • Experience with management of software acquisition, maintenance renewals, compliance, and life cycle planning
  • Be familiar with and use Department of Defense (DoD) software licensing management policies, directives, procedures and guidance
  • Be familiar with and use Unit Software Licensing Manager (USLM) POC List and Resource Advisor (RA) POC List
  • Experience with software inventory management, searching/editing databases
  • Experience/training with Communications System Requirement Document (CSRD) database
  • Ability to build trust relationships within AFIT organizations
  • Familiar with validating and updating USLM POC list and RA list
  • Respond to requests from end users, managers, developers, and team members for specific IT Software Asset Management data information.
  • Ability to create and manage Master Software List for all identified organizations using identified templates
  • Input all required license software and information into FootPrints SW Licensing Manager
  • Work directly with POC of each AFIT organization for collecting and verifying SW information
  • Ability to independently contact organization RA for licenses
  • Ability to independently contact and work with users identified as user of the SW for License
  • Ability to independently contact the Vendor to verify SW Licensing at AFIT



  • B.S. Degree or Associate’s Degree with 2 years of Computer Help Desk or related experience
  • Experience with MS Office 2010 or greater and MS Windows 7 or greater
  • Familiar with automated software asset management, configuration tools, software life cycle management processes, acquisition, and use
  • Skill in understanding IT technical documentation and terminology
  • Experience interpreting licensing terms and conditions
  • Able to work independently to resolve inventory discrepancies.
  • Excellent customer service, written and oral communications skills.
  • Detail oriented
  • Experience auditing to verify and enforce compliance with policies and procedures
  • Experience with inventory and asset management
  • Software Asset Management certification recommended but not required
