The Senior Network Engineer serves as a key member of the USCAAF Information Technology Support Team, which is responsible for coverage for the USCAAF network, providing assistance to the USCAAF Help Desk staff, ensuring successful operation of USCAAF network, and maintaining all servers, switches and routers internal to USCAAF.

  • Ensure all the servers are up-to-date with latest Service Packs, Releases and Patches.
  • Troubleshooting 
  • Software configuration management.
  • Hardware/software evaluation, testing, installation and training
  • Configuration development and maintenance of user accounts, hardware, and passwords.
  • Hardware maintenance, board replacement and cable switching.
  • On call services.
  • Creation of user accounts.
  • Migrations and data conversion.
  • Tracking of Internet Protocol (IP) addresses.
  • Evaluation and Recommendations concerning network security systems.
  • Installing, testing and burning in computer/network components as well as the functions associated with these tasks.
  • Scheduling preventive maintenance and optimizing network for performance.
  • Contacting vendors for remedial and emergency repairs when hardware malfunctions occur.
  • Maintaining maintenance records on networking hardware.
  • Developing operations, administrative and quality assurance back up plans as well as Standard Operating Procedure (SOP) documentation.
  • Performing regular, full and incremental system backups and restorations (if required).
  • Starting up and shutting down the network as required.
  • Routinely performing checks for system/network degradation.
  • Maintain an incident report log for all abnormal operations.
  • Communicating computer/network status to customers.
  • Monitoring server room environment to ensure that the temperature and humidity are maintained within operating ranges and that emergency equipment is properly calibrated.
  • Maintaining a clean and neat operating area.
  • Other duties assigned by the USCAAF COTR/Court Executive.
  • Provide and maintain up to date anti virus software on all servers.
  • Ensure daily and weekly backups are completed successfully.
  • Document the physical and logical characteristics of the USCAAF network including all Cisco, Dell, and Microsoft network components.
  • Produce maintainable network diagram(s) using Visio or equivalent tool.
  • Document the Microsoft file structures, including groups, applications, data, and security.
  • Identify future network potential for improving availability, capacity, speed, virus protection, and security.
  • Identify potential new services, e.g., net meeting.
  • Identify policies (e.g., limiting mailbox size and network shares), procedures (e.g., FEDCIRC incident logging, backup and recovery schedules), and tools (e.g., CISCOWORKS, MOM, password management tools, software distribution and asset management).
  • Provide cost benefit analysis as requested.
  • Conduct evaluations and help plan new technology initiatives or extensions to current ones.
  • Creating and maintaining redundancy for emergency of critical equipment.


  • 5 years of expereince 
  • MCSE NT/2000/2003 or equivalent
  • CCNA desired
  • CCNP desired
  • Must be a United States Citizen with an active Secret clearance

4-year College degree or equivalent experience
